MARTIAL LAW; USELESS EMBEDDED PRESS

It is right and expected for the police to ask civilians to stay inside, when there is a "manhunt"-- we used to do that when we had escapes from the Road Prison on Big Pine Key, or a dangerous and armed felon loose where we had a perimeter and dogs out. But when you get to the point, feeling justified or not, that you ORDER an undeclared and illegal Martial Law, ORDER people to stay inside at threat & AT gunpoint (yes), ORDER people to close businesses, ORDER public service shutdowns, accost civilians at gunpoint on the street, handcuff and search them without probable cause (yes), drag people out of apartments in handcuffs, then where are we? Yes. It was all heroic and successful. We found a 19 year old kid, hiding in a boat, who had snapped his psyche and was super-dangerous. Yes. Got it. BUT, did any press ever even broach the idea that what the police were doing was illegal, unconstitutional and probably way over the top? Or, once again (Iraq, 2003), did they 'embed' themselves, cheerleader, simper and cower- while it all went on? Is the public even questioning any of it?

Most people I talk to about this have different feelings on the subject, but most deny that citizens did not undergo what you described and will argue their point even after watching videos of the police state in action. I don't think that they will believe what happened until FOX, MSNBC or CNN tells them that it happened and you don't need a tinfoil hat to know that the media outlets are not going to do that. My question is how do we stop this from happening again??? What does a person do as a citizen of the United States when they come knocking on your door??? If you fight them, they will leave you with extra holes in your body and if you don't fight them they believe that this behavior is ok. Were there any officers that said "wtf!!! This is not right and we won't do it!!!" The whole situation stinks from any angle you look at it.
