The ACA is fantastic.
I am uninsurable. I am active, healthy lifestyle, just great. But uninsurable. Completely. I cannot (or COULD NOT) get life or health insurance. I only have health insurance because I kept paying through the nose when I retired, so they couldn't cancel me. Now--it doesn't matter. They can't hold that over my head any more. If I were to apply for health coverage until this month, it would generate laughter and rejection. I could never ever ever buy health insurance. Now, I can. Now they can't even ASK about my preexisting conditions or medical history. And you idiots think that isn't an improvement?
Also, my insurance is nearly $600.00 a month. It will stay that way. I have savings but have a fixed income. So even if I could buy it, I have to be ready to choose between food, diesel fuel or medical premiums. i am luckier than that, but many of my peers are doing that today.
If you are on the government tit already, with some BS disability nonsense or Medicare, good for you. But the rest of us are not there. So now we can get insurance...WHAT ELSE? Well, this is the letter I got yesterday:
I can not only get insurance, from a real company, with real coverage, which I never could before, BUT, they will help me, since I am on a fixed income, they will help me by giving me a $348.00 a month tax credit.
This isn't an improvement for people who couldn't get or afford insurance??? To get them covered and make them pay into the system (which I would have to do, to the tune of a few hundred a month) -- and then help them???
What is Wrong with you TeaBag Idiots? Really!

Is the tax credit only applicable if you purchase insurance through the Marketplace or is your credit applicable towards your existing premium? If so, that's wonderful indeed!
