IN OUR WONDERFUL FREE SOCIETY; THERE IS AN ACCEPTED DANGER RISK

We see 60 law enforcement agencies, cluster fucking and scrambling for camera time, to investigate Boston. We see solders in the streets, police dressed up like military infantry, brandishing machine guns, strutting around, barking orders~~two days after any danger. Checkpoints, airports stops and searches, innocent student's apartments searched and tossed. Justified? Perhaps.

In a free society, without police checkpoints, government spying on citizens on a whim,  where we may criticize government, religion, government policies, openly disagree with any authority--- where we may move about on a whim, where we are not required to carry "our papers" with us, I am afraid we will not be perfectly safe.

Our safety can be enhanced and improvement strived for, BUT, if we are to remain a free and a people who may move about at will, not answering to government authorities-- then we will have incidents of violence, we will have things happen that the police do not see or know about, if we are to exist and enjoy   freedom,.

We will have to risk some danger to keep our freedom-- kind of a perpetual tinge of the Wild West.

But if we keep on the way we are going, in order to be "safer" - At the whim of thousands of government operatives. You will be watched, recorded, and dossier-ed. When you criticize the government policies, you will be tracked, possibly investigated and questioned. You will start to see employment depend on your adherence to the norm. If you take up an oddball religion, you will be watched.

IS THIS WHAT WE WANT? BECAUSE IT IS WHERE WE ARE HEADED.

Should we be cheering authority, or perhaps dialing it back a bit?

Does this guy need to be dialed back a couple notches, or do you want him in your house and car, when he feels like you area threat?

Steps are now underway, since the unfolding of the last 15 years, but really since forever, at least since Romans, Christ, Mohammed, Ghandi, etc...to make you safer. It sounds good. But watch carefully. It cannot be done without also making you less free.
