THE CONSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR REDUCTION OF FIREARMS VIOLENCE

Before we get all CONSTITUTIONAL, here are the numbers, which do not lie. We have a problem. It’s a 200# dead Americans every 24 hours problem. Like an ongoing bloody massacre.

OK. Forget “bans” for a second…because—-

There really IS a CONSTITUTIONAL framework for significantly resolving firearms violence and death in this country. Including accidents, suicides, domestics, and mass shootings. 

It CAN be done without violating or infringing upon constitutional rights being exercised.

FIVE STEPS*:

1. Set age requirements for firearms purchase to 21

2. Require 3 day waiting period to take possession of firearms 

3. Require universal background check (criminal, restraining orders, and psychiatric commitments), prior to taking possession 

4. Require licensing and testing, e.g.. Drivers licenses. Before purchase and use.

5. Require minimal liability insurance for all firearms owners, users, concealed carriers.

*(your author did not include reclassification of semi-auto, man killing, military assault rifles, machine pistols, and the like, as this is another level of regulation that likely would be controversial
