PAYNES PRAIRIE STATE PRESERVE, SOUTH OF GAINESVILLE FLORIDA
Here is a place I’ve camped many times over the years. It’s a preserved look back at 700 years of our Florida and US history.
I have never seen that snake wall at Paynes Prairie and snapped this picture of it yesterday. Its built along the northern side of the Prairie.
The horses there are left over from Spanish military operations here at the dawn of the continent. I’ve actually seen them fight alligators.
You can tent camp or RV camp. You can hike or canoe or kayak.
It’s a pretty cool park and it’s huge with lots of trails.
It’s the real Florida
