Long ago, before I was 7 or 8, I made up my mind to be a traveler, an adventurer —and one who looked hard for personal challenge, the unusual, the stuff often overlooked, — disregard the ordinary ‘norms’— volunteering for the USMC / Vietnam….. Working midnights as a policeman in a major city. Risking my life and safety a thousand times, for people I didn’t know and would never see again. Obtaining a doctoral level education with my own energy and effort. Trying criminal cases, high stakes, where innocent lives hung in the balance.
Then later, giant fraud cases in Medicaid/Medicare-trial after trial—a wild ride. None of it really for accolades. Rather, it was for travel, seeing places, meeting people, and it was amazing. All about seeing the world—adventure and personal attainment. I wanted to perform the dance for myself. I was, and am, my own best, imaginary friend.
I have tried to live my life, —not focused on making money or acquiring power over others, but on excitement, personal accomplishment, travel, unusual adventures.
