WAR IS PEACE; UP IS DOWN

Vietnam in the 60’s. Iraq in ‘03. The Pacific Rim in ‘30’s, Europe 1911 to 1935. Always. War is peace. Up is down. Black is white. Us against Them. It is not just the US...but we are a prime example. We spend 70 cts of every dollar we budget, on military, defense & war machines. We ignore our bridges, roads, schools, railways, watersheds, parks— we use the vast majority of all we create to maintain killing forces, to manufacture killing ships, warplanes, missiles.  It’s insane. Planetary insanity that no one would think was reasonable, individually—but somehow makes sense in ‘groupthink’. The children of the rich shower in money from an military-industrial war machine. Children of the poor &; working classes, worldwide, are the ones mangled &; killed. And all this makes the world safer &; more secure?

“....a broken clock is right twice a day, but few would argue that makes it a cherished, precise timepiece...” L. Wm. Porter, 2020

The eastern world, it is explodin',
Violence flarin', bullets loadin',
You're old enough to kill but not for votin',
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin',
And even the Jordan river has bodies floatin',
But you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Barry McGuire, singer, 1965

George Orwell wrote in 1949, in his work, “1984”......

“War is peace. Freedom is slavery.  Ignorance is strength.”

“Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.”
