But we THINK we can.  

We often drift on the winds of random occurrence. We avoid frustration (insanity?) by pretending--acting as if- it isn't random, but is under our control...convinced we have power of control/direction & forging our own destiny. Much of what we do, where we go and what happens to us-- is merely unpredictable happenstance.
