IS THIS REALLY WHAT WE WANT THE POLICE DOING IN OUR COMMUNITIES?

POT "CULTIVATION" CHARGE. GUY IS CHARGED WITH 5 COUNTS OF MARIJUANA POSSESSION AND CULTIVATION BECAUSE HE HAD FIVE PLANTS. CHARGED WITH 'DRUG PARAPHERNALIA' BECAUSE HE HAD A COUPLE OF PIPES.

This just appeared in todays little hometown paper, where I live, in the Florida Panhandle.

Yes... my county sheriff's department busies itself with surveillance, informants, warrants, affidavits, a caravan of armed personnel to surround and search, interviews, photograph, crime scene processing, reams of reports, a man jailed...felony prosecutions...and

And for WHAT?? The guy had a 5 pot plants growing in his "back 40"!!?? A couple were just little teeny seedlings it seems. They charged him with a FELONY count of drug possession FOR EACH PLANT!

Really!?! THIS is the important stuff they have to do?

On top of that, they charge the guy with every crime they can find in the statute book...drug paraphernalia (pipe), cultivation, FELONY possession-- on and on. If the guy is convicted and sentenced for all this, he could do 10 or 15 years!

It is just RIDICULOUS. If he had the money to go to a doctor, he could get a marijuana "license" and be able to get all he wanted, and wave at the police as they went by.

Is this really what we want going on in our country, with our money? Not me. Leave them alone. Go find some real crimes.
