BERNIE AND I WERE RIGHT; WE SAW THEM OBVIOUSLY LYING

I still have the letters I sent the early part of that year--cajoling and begging and virtually screaming that this was a political fraud and lie and a huge mistake. The boy inside me that went to Vietnam, saw it all again--another stupid, pointless, military debacle, 8000 miles away--and I asked , "why can't people see this?" -- be nobody listened. They sang the star spangled banner, flew the flag, and then turned on the football game, while the children of the lower middle class took their army of one and started the dumbest, most deadly debacle of our age.
