I had never seen NEWSROOM. Last night I watched two of the episodes. Wow. Now, some of the playtime around the office is a little inane, but the base content and thrust is amazing. The lead summarized, so well, the demise of intelligent conservatism to the hi-jacked Tea Party. I summarize here what I got out of that segment:
Conservatism in a fiscal or social policy matter is a valid thought process, just as is centrist or liberal thinking. Fanaticism, like the hijacked tea party, is not. Michelle Bachmann wanting Congress to investigate itself to root out “un-American” proclivities or thinking -- or Allen West trying to find “Communists” in Congress, are the kind of crazy right wing nut job things that have hijacked legitimate conservatism. The Tea Party may have started out with some valid concerns, but the end result has been a Congress (and many Senate seats, governorships, etc.) full of fanatical right wing nut-jobs and a backward spiral for us all.
