We must craft a framework. Our 2d Amendment constitutional right to use and possess firearms must exist in the same space as a method to minimally regulate that right in a reasonable fashion.
I am an avid supporter of those who buy & use firearms undergoing a simple universal background check.
For several years, my suggestion has been that we have a system for firearms ownership/ usage—like drivers licenses.
Everybody that’s going to drive has to pass a simple test and a simple screening. That’s it.
SIMPLE UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS AND A SHORT WAITING PERIOD ARE NOT CONSTITUTIONAL INFRINGEMENTS
No state would let somebody drive a Corvette on a freeway with no training and no proof of their ability to pilot such a vehicle. But we do so with firearms.
