Everyone who knows Betzy would want to know when the time came, she was not in pain. Her organs were shutting down. Not painful or miserably hurting she felt me holding her, talking to her, smelling only me as she went.. I wouldn’t allow her to smell and focus on the exam room. All she heard & felt and smelled was reassurance that I was there. That she was completely loved and cared for. And then, so suddenly that it jolted me, she was gone. They were talking to me and I left and said something politely. And my Betzy is gone.
We I sat out in the sun yesterday, before we went to the vet. I wanted her to feel the land and air and hear things and feel like a dog, not an invalid, or weak. She was comfortable but very sick. She felt the sunshine. Smelled her home area and yard. Heard the squirrels and birds. We sat there. Marlene & Reggie and Sunshine came out and we all sat together and betzy was aware we were all around her. She was not in pain. She was certainly in discomfort, but that time we sat there... it was clear and in the direct sun—with clear blue sky, we sat there awhile. I talked to her and she sniffed the air a little.
