Long story about my primitive campsite in Tates Hell. 😶 But a great motorcycle ride out in the Apalachicola National Forest and then a couple hours out in Tates Hell. I put the V-Strom Motorcycle through its paces. I put ME through MY paces. More on that later. 😳
Explored, in detail, the "Forgotten Coast"...from east of Carrabelle, over to Indian Pass, Cape San Bias and all through Port St Joe.
Carrabelle has grown up so much in the last 30 years! The area between Appalachicola and Cape San Blas is poised, somewhat like Seaside & Grayton Beach on 30a in Walton & Santa Rosa Counties were in the mid 1970's. Lots of real estate and building money will be made on this "Forgotten coast" over next 50 years.
But the most disturbing phenomenon (?) I saw were HERDS of dumb ass, white trash, gun totin', nonsense spewing, hate filled, overeatin', right wing, flag salutin', god blessin', uneducated, unread, incurious, hostile, semi-literate, flabby-ass, redneck squintin', dufus twat-muffins. Raising another generation of the same & daring any visitor who doesn't agree that "guns is better'n women" & buyin' 'merican is what matters"--DARING anyone to suggest that might not be the case.
The water from oyster shack I ate gumbo in had signs that said if you "don't beleive in 'merica, god, jesus, guns and our flag, you can eat somewhere else". Good Lord. These people don't even know that there ARE the other Abrahamic religions.
They don't know (nor care) anything about Jews, Muslims, Shia, Shiites, Buddhists, Hindus..they are just wrapped up in ignorant bubble of the silly imaginary friend THEY have made up, but about which they know nothing of substance.
Trump signs everywhere. Even effigy presentations of "Sleepy Joe", in a bed, in their front yard, with a 4' X 6' TRUMP 2020 sign over the top! Incredible. I literally did not know how stupid these people are. Nor how MANY of them there are. Frightening and amazing.
Not one of them, I bet, knows the first thing about global manufacturing supply chains, English literature, civics, history, geography. They have their little Memorial Day crosses out (without actually any regard for the true religious beleifs of the deceased)....a cross will do, thank you!
All the while, I bet not 2 in 100 could tell you the geopolitical circumstances of war in the last century...or stick a pin in the country where they occurred. Or even tell you who, where or when they took place.
We are at the threshold of a century of dumbass-ism. Trump is merely a symptom of the disease. It was depressing.
But it was and is pretty.
