OK. WHAT DID YOU THINK THE EGGS AND RABBITS WERE ABOUT?

OK... time once again to discuss "EASTER"-- the christian renaming of an ancient celebratory period in the year. Ishtar, Eostre, Aostre, --those are modern Pagan or Assyrian labels for the same thing.  The celebration, however, predates written history in the Northern Hemisphere. Tens of thousands of years ago...hundreds--more likely---as the cold Winter came to a close, prehistoric and then Pagan mankind worshipped changing seasons.

A celebratory moment in the passing of seasons when the day and night balanced; time of daylight equalled the time of darkness.

Mankind has, since the dawn of time,  marveled at the change from dark harsh cold, to bright warm Spring. A time of warmth, celebrating renewal, promise, nice weather, green plants, fertility, eggs, rabbits, penises, pregnancy, birth, blah blah.

It is certainly NOT a holiday originally celebrated to memorialize the resurrection of a Palestinian Jewish preacher, who inexplicably looks like Barry Gibb. That was middle-age slather.

The mythology, allegory, parables, stories and pillars of ALL mankind created religions & myth are plump with stories of virgin births, death overcome by magic, fertility, ascension to "Heaven", wise-men, resurrections, forgiveness for betrayal, water to wine... these things populated mythology long before the Romans made christianity the state religion in about AD 300, and started co-opting holidays to be "inclusive."--- indeed, this was the first political correctness scandal.

Later, Pagans tossed in some eggs, rabbits, flowers and fertility stuff, and viola' !! Easter! **

Easter. and, it isn't exactly dumb, on its own. Nothing wrong with a Springtime celebration. What is disingenuous is to slather a bunch of made up christian nonsense over ancient myth and prehistoric stories / celebrations, and pretend it is all your idea. Pretend that the "reason for the season" is a Palestinian Jew, born to a Jewish 15 year old virgin, who inexplicably looks like Barry Gibb, fathered by himself, at the behest of a HE God.

Let us then adjourn to Easter egg hunts, rabbit races, and other Pagan/ Germanic Goddess mythological remnants.

**A Germanic goddess, EOSTRE was very popular with the Anglo-Saxon pagan brigade who worshipped her under the name — and kicked off the whole Easter business without a JESUS in sight. If you ever wondered what eggs and bunnies have to do with crucifixion and resurrection, the answer is: absolutely nothing.
