To the degree your religious affiliation causes you to feel
empathy for the poor, the imprisoned, the hungry, the downtrodden, the hated---
and prompts you to move toward sacrificing to help them---or that it reminds
you of your social responsibility to refrain from stealing, interfering,
coveting, screwing that which belongs to others---or killing them, then it’s
probably a good thing to spend time on. To the degree your religious concerns
are for stupid doctrine…like wearing beanies or scarves, and not dancing or
taking birth control pills—or babbling about things a guy you imagine to look
like Barry Gibb did in Palestine, 2000 years ago—KNOWING that it is all
made-up, rehashed, recycled mythology---water to wine, resurrection, born on
the Winter Equinox, born of a mammalian female virgin--- that silliness…all
that stuff has been part of this myth and that, for millennia before the
Christians, Muslims, Jews, or whomever-- if you spend your time on that
nonsense, you’re a stooge.
