Mexicans, Illegals, Lazy Welfare Blacks, Suits, Libs, Gays & Uppity Women

I just spent two days out in the Deep South, redneck hinterlands of the Suwannee River, up on the GA border. I was hiking old graveyards; talking to workers on pig farms. Here, the fault is clear. The "libs", the blacks getting all our tax money, welfare (in point of fact, they are often getting free school lunches, Medicaid, County Health Dept care, & MANY are on SSA Disability)--- the Mexicans, the uppity women who think they are smarter than me, the Internet, computers... it's all part of what has taken away their lives.

Drive through "prayer lines" ! Yes. Really. Families in a dirty car, with the headliner draping down in the drivers face. Drive through. Out in the country, 20 miles outside Greenville FL, old country road. Sign promotes "Prayer Line drive-through". Everyone is white trash. I don't mean that with animosity. It just is.

They pick up their envelope as they pull in, write their prayer request, pull forward to hand it to pastor (money in envelope, please), and the pastor leans in the car, praying with the family. Heads bowed. Wife reaches skyward, out the window. Praying on what they wrote on the envelope. 30 seconds. Drive forward. No need to get out of the car. Heading to Hardee's, out by the interstate, after this--- two breakfast biscuits for price of one.

We have a "live" nativity scene, with the players, in the freezing cold, waving at the broken down old cars and trucks driving by. After the prayer line. Yes. I was there yesterday. Really. They are angry and almost militant about keeping Christ in Christmas. But they don't know anything about other religions or cultures.

Even at the "primitive" Baptist church, they are unaware that "primitive" is unlikely, since the Protestant Reformation was started by Martin Luther, hardly "primitive"-- and besides, one wanted to know, what does a black guy like Martin Luther know about our church?

Pig farms, used farm equipment swap-meets, graveyards. Churches that have buried people since the early 1800's. My relatives who fought in the "Indian Wars", and then, decades later, the CSA. Markers and monuments to a past era-- and the modern day result. A population of largely ignorant, uneducated, unaware, powerless, people.

I cannot count the group's of clapboard shacks, decrepit mobile 'homes'- junk all over the yards, everything broken down and left to deteriorate. Trump/Pence signs EVERYWHERE! Why? Trump / Pence? Really? Why? Because they feel as if they were being LISTENED to. They can't get jobs, unless they work for $9 an hour. They drive swill trucks. Work on irrigation crews. Have pitiful Christmas parades in little towns. A nicely appointed church for what seems to be a church for every 20 families. Why? Because they have lost all of their hope and they have no power to do anything. No purchasing power, no status from employment-- just garbage, deteriorating in the yard, out in front of their trailer.

The church is a final refuge. Here, they COUNT. Their churches & 'ministries' give them a feeling of some control and purpose. It cannot be had elsewhere. They BRAG about not needing or wanting internet or smartphones. They deride diet conscious living, and almost angrily grill meat and say so on their T Shirts! They LOVE Trump! He seems to allow them to outwardly be angry at blacks, minorities, liberals, and all the people who have taken away their power, jobs, futures. They don't WANT to go to the local tech school and learn. They want things back "like they were"- where they could get a job at the chicken plant, and make $25 an hour, with no education or skill-- just show up. They could buy a new truck and a new riding lawn mower-- to mow the 200 square feet they live on.

They want that back.... back from the blacks and Mexicans and liberals and uppity women. Trump is going to get it back for them. If he doesn't, it won't be a broken promise. It will be the blacks and Mexicans and liberals and uppity women who caused it.
