SUNPASS TRANSPONDER? You are a threat to our AMERICAN way of life!

For many years, I've had a Sunpass transponder, w little suction cups on it. I used it in a variety of vehicles. It was registered to my motorcycle five years ago. I never updated when I bought new motorcycles. I used it in rental cars all the time. When a car, bearing my transponder, went under the toll thing – – it's simply charged my account. No problem.

Now the system has tightened up and it's changed.  If you're driving another car, even for a day or so – – like a rental car, or borrowing a friends car, you better actually go online and "register" that description and tag. No longer will the toll authority simply pick up the signal and charge your transponder. Now, the system compares your transponder issue to the tag that it photographs.

Now get this: if you go under the toll thing it will read your transponder and it will know who you are BUT it will not take the dollar off of your account. Instead it will punish you by IGNORING YOUR VALID PAID TRANSPONDER! ! instead, ---it essentially extorts 1500% from you, by way of sending you a toll bill for "toll by tag" at $15 a pop! That's right. They KNOW it is your valid transponder, but charge you as if you ran to toll!

This is NOT your punishment for failure to pay a toll. The computer knows that there was a transponder and knows that the money was there to pay it. You are simply being punished for disobeying the rules and not having that particular tag registered. So in order to make life more difficult for you they charge you $15.

You can drive a rental car to Orlando and then on to Miami and stay a few days in each place and run yourself up a bill of $1000 without even knowing it even while your transponder was perfectly valid and had plenty of money as a credit. To make matters even harsher, if you're driving a rental car, you probably won't even know that any of this is going on for five or six months while the fines work their way through the Hertz or whatever rental system. Then you get a bill, out of the blue.

If we buy a transponder and fund it with our credit cards we should be able to use it in any car that we wish just like we could use our wallet and cash in any car that we wish. This is just highway robbery in a very real sense.
