DRILL BABY DRILL- FUN WITH GUNS!!

DANGER LURKING IN THE DOG-FOOD AISLE & CAMPUS BOOKSTORE

Before the stupid, disastrous, failed, destructive "war on drugs" - we had some thugs with guns, some gang-bangers---hunters, sportsmen...then it went nuts. Pretty soon, every drug dealer and crack-freak could get a cheap pistol for $50. They started shooting people, mostly each other. Gun violence escalated, and the media made it seem like a tidal wave. Then came concealed carry.
At first, it was retired cops and veterans...Once reserved for people with an actual need--and who had to have insurance, serious training and review-- the situation watered down. Now, with a couple hundred bucks and a Saturday to burn, one can be licensed to conceal a serious, blaster firearm and carry it with them, pretty much everywhere.

People with no real tactical experience or training, without having been tested in combat or high stress--whose basic qualification is that they have no criminal record-- they have bra holsters, boot holsters, underwear rigs--

Jesus! Everyone in the yogurt aisle is just drooling to pull out their '9' and blast a bad guy, like an NCIS episode.

I spent half my working life carrying a firearm 24/7. I'm more frightened now than ever. Some 19 year old hungover chick in Zaxbys is going to decide I look like a wanted poster and drill my ass. Good lord.

Instead of bitching about it, be proactive about it. I've carried a gun daily for close to 20 years now, I'm just an ordinary citizen and I have taken classes that have taught me to shoot under stress, I compete in shooting sports that produce an amount of adrenalin (I know it's not the same as when the balloon goes up) and I have taken classes that disguss all of the legal ramifications of using a firearm to defend yourself. I explain to everybody that is interested in carrying a firearm the need for training and that their idea that popping the burglar in that back of the head that snuck into their home will probably leave them with a life long prison sentence. I'm planning on flying to Alaska in May for some special training and taking another class in August and I can't tell you how many hours of instruction I've has over the years. My point is to stop the bitching and name calling and point people in the right direction for training and gun safety. Carrying a gun is the most mundane thing in the world, but like myself I know that you take personal responsibility for your safety as well.
