DEAD IN SYRIA, SINCE ORIGINAL UPRISING (credit ECONOMIST)

At least 200,000 people have died in the four years since the original uprising against the president, Bashar Assad. Today Syria is torn between the regime’s forces, rebels and the jihadists of Islamic State. And Mr Assad, who denies using barrel bombs, for now looks unlikely to be removed.
