KOREA AND VIETNAM. LEARN SOMETHING.
This is an interesting short blurb, explaining quickly what happened in the Korean War. It probably had to be. But in the end.... You have to wonder!
In 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea. The borders were about where they are now. The war initially went very well for the North Koreans, and the South Koreans were pushed back to a small pocket of territory surrounding the port city of Busan.[1] From this position, United Nations forces, led by the United States, pushed the North Koreans back. The maximum extent of both sides is shown on the map below, with the red being the North Korean holdings and the blue being the UN ones.
Obviously, it was a complete route and shift back on favor of the South Koreans. At this point, the People's Republic of China entered the war on the side of the North Koreans. There were several reasons for this, the big one being that the Chinese did not want US weaponry poised on their border.

[consider now, why, when I was in Vietnam, in the Northern I Corps-- Quang Tri, Dong Ha, Que, Phu Bai, etc., our enemy were Chinese trained and equipped, regular NVA soldiers, not "Viet Kong" or insurgents...the Chinese had a HUGE interest in Vietnam...just as they did, and for many of the same reasons as Korea-- but they were not going to let us pull off the Korea gambit again]
In Korea, The UN forces were pushed back roughly to the original border, and the war was pretty much a stalemate for the next two years before it was ended in an armistice.
