GIVING UP ON DUMBASSES

Since the middle 70’s, on a lower key--and around 93, more stridently, I have found myself railing against either natural born, or self imposed stupidity and dumbasses in general. Now, with the internet and wikipedia, these dumbasses all think they are entitled to an opinion which we should all value. I don’t care as much that Bachmann, Gomert, Perry, Palin-- and their nameless predecessors back through time, do what they do. I have constantly been upset that such a huge percentage of the populace doesn’t recognize imbecility when they see and hear it. In fact, they cheer it. People generally do not think critically --and, more to the point, are not smart, or informed enough-- or have the mental capacity sufficient to do so. Slogans and simple ideas, in bullet point forms, without doing the hard work of thinking through the facts and background--that is what has just incensed me. And it has done me no good. I can easily beat one of two of them into stupidity submission. I can make them look foolish. But it doesn’t accomplish anything-- neither they, nor the group, are better for it. They are still stupid and I am now just frustrated.
