So, I am on the Social Security GOVERNMENT website, setting up an account. To verify my identity, they make me answer some questions.
Quickly, I notice they are asking stuff like, "what year did you take out the mortgage on your current home at XXXX [my address]?. It had multiple choice. Next, "How many vehicles do you have registered in your name?"- again, with multiple choice answers!!
Then it asked a couple more and I said to myself, "Wait a second" -- how do they even KNOW to ask this stuff, much LESS what the answers are???? This is Social Security-- I never told them any of this and none of it is in my SSA account! WTF???
So I conduct a little investigation. Get this, cowpokes: SSA has contracted with one of the three (negligent and generally wrong) Credit Bureaus, to feed them information about your personal life, for their government database. Then, they use this data to formulate questions.... and, of course, to analyze, I am sure, exactly who you are and what assets you have and etc.
First, I have, in my life and professional life, never ever ever read a credit report that was accurate. They are known and famous as being the leading consumer complaint there is, behind, I think, car repairs. They are slipshod, ruthless, merciless and --hiding behind computers, create misery all over the nation.
Next--exactly how and when did I give my permission for the US Government to just download all my stuff from these credit bureaus? This whole thing is really out of hand. The next generation --- there is no telling where this will go. There is literally not a word you speak or write, or a place you go, where everything connected with you is not filed away in a database. It is sad. Really.

I agree wholeheartedly that it's disgusting that they can get so much access to my personal intimate information simply to use as challenge questions against me. It's time to stop the mania and demolish the IRS. They are an expense that would alone solve a lot of financial problems. Keith
